Weil's Disease that Killed14 November 2010
The unfortunate death of Andy Holmes cannot highlight the paramount importance of our industry, which is usually pushed to one side.
Andy Holmes who was an Olympic Gold medalist with Steve Redgrave has died from suspected Leptospirosis. This serious disease and in this case fatal was transmitted by a microscopic lice carried in Rat urine.
They believe he caught the disease drinking from a bottle of beer which was from a cellar in a pub.
I could go on about all the health and safety implications which will follow his death but feel i do not need to. What i am trying to highlight is, can you afford this to happen to you or a member of your staff? After all it is a criminal offence to knowingly know you have rats and do not do anything about it.
