Abate Pest Management Services carries out bird proofing job at Jarrolds

08 December 2016

In March we were bird proofing gutter boxes at Jarrolds in Norwich. The company had seen Pigeons nesting behind the gutter boxes on their building and call us in.

Rain gutters and downpipes present a problem bird area on buildings. Guttering and other pipework are well liked spots for pigeons and other pest birds. Downpipes are popular perching sites, particularly for pigeons.

So bird proofing these areas is an important job as over time pigeon and seagull nests and droppings can block gutters and down pipes.  This can result in rainwater overflowing causing wood to decay, damage to rendering and in, some cases, structural damage – all of which can be very expensive to put right.

At Jarrolds we cleared away the nesting material and then manufactured and fitted bespoke metal plates and spikes to the gutter boxes.

There is a wide range of bird proofing systems on the market today and with our expertise we can recommend the best method to control your bird pest problems. From netting, post-and-wire systems, spikes or gel systems to the latest in bird proofing technology - the Avishock system

We are proud to be one of only a few companies in the country who have achieved National Pest Technician Association (NPTA) gold accreditation. Meaning all our facilities, procedures and training practices have been fully audited and accredited.  We offer include in-depth site audits and risk assessments and have achieved CSCS cards, enabling us to work on construction sites where there are often bird proofing issues.
